In other racing this weekend, East London Vélo’s Ed Graefe took a fine win in dreadful conditions in Round 13 of the Winter Series at Fowlmead. Ed, who had also raced on Saturday at Hog Hill, stretched his legs on Sunday to take the win in the uphill sprint as seen below.

From 9.30am this Saturday (24th January) we will be holding youth spinning and turbo training sessions at Hog Hill. All youth members and non-members are welcome. Please contact Leslie for more Information.
Proving it’s not just bikes that our members like to compete on. Youth Members Zoey and Armanni both qualified to represent the Essex County Schools at the National Inter Counties Cross Country Championships in Leicester in March. Both ran solid races to qualify in tough fields.

Earlier this week, East London Vélo Youth Members Bea Windsor, Sam Harmon, Ashraf Ali Mahmood, Michael Peat all collected their boxed gold medallions for the Jack Petchey Achievement Awards, at the Queens Theatre in Hornchurch.
Each rider achieved some fantastic individual goals in 2008 and their achievements are listed below.

In the U16 Category ‘A’ race held at Hog Hill, Ed Bird of East London Vélo, took 1st place with Simon Alexander (Southend Wheelers) and Daniel Young (Glendene CC) 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Bea Windsor, Matthew Mannix and Simon Bird all of East London Vélo, also placed well in their respective races. Well done guys!

In freezing conditions over at Hog Hill today, East London Vélo’s Simon Bateson won the prestigious E/1/2/3 race by 4 seconds from Andy Davies (Fitfor) 2nd and Matt Seaton (Rapha Condor) 3rd.
