Roller Racing Contest at the Chelmer Hut – Report

On Wed 11th June ELV were kindly invited by Corinna from Chelmer to compete against their own well polished senior team and equally Ford’s cc, with one of their riders is a regular at Rollapalluza indoor events.  We did feel a bit like cycling’s equivalent to Dad’s Army, we had Matt bless him who couldn’t reach the pedals, and our own Mick French who turned up as a spectator and was forced to don some licra and compete and I must say put in a couple of great times, a nats whisker behind me. So the pressure was on for Adam and Tim the talent in our team, to pull something out of the musette, which they almost did, Tim coming a close second in his heat because he did a powerful wheelspin at the start, and Adam was racing against the superstar Chelmer rider (who we have requested a urine sample from) and got really close but had to settle for second.

Bea 13 looking good came an impressive very close second in her heat to a 15 year old lad, and Matt out of the saddle the whole way and with a swift blast in the last 10 seconds saw off his competition to win.

ELV came third (sounds better than last) in the Team relay and it has to be said after some dodgy decisions by the commissaire Corinna ;) , we were robbed of second place, o well we didn’t make a scene, it was a great night, they made us all very welcome, with lots of tea and cake. Maybe we will be invited back and then maybe we will have some bigger guns in our team to show em what ELV is really made of.

Well done Roller Team, thanks for your support.
